Adviser of the Year
The 2010 Adviser of the Year is Terri Rouse of the TEACH History Hunters, from The Eastern Association of Christian Homeschools in Washington. “Mrs. Terri,” as her club members call her, has been working with the TEACH History Hunters for eight years. Membership has more than doubled during that time, and the club has enjoyed a variety of field trips and guest speakers. Club members enter a variety of THJHA contests each year, learning a lot about historical research. The group has been especially successful in the Video Documentary Contest. Its work does not end with the contests each year, though. Newspaper articles and student videos have helped increase public awareness about historical events in the TEACH History Hunters’ community. One of the group’s art projects has even been displayed in the storefront window of a local shop. Rouse’s students nominated her for this award to recognize her hard work, not only in 2009–2010, but also during all of her years of involvement. The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association is proud to honor her.
