July 10
2nd Saturday Program: Homestead crafts and skills featuring such skills as basket weaving, wood carving, gun making, pottery and metal work. Landscape artists along with other artists and musicians. Plans are incomplete and activities will be added up to the event date. Event hours: 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
July 24
Blue Ridge Traditions Program: The Kruger Brothers will be performing at the Old Fort School Auditorium with seating first come first served. Event hours: 7–9 p.m.
August 7
Blue Ridge Traditions Program: Laura Boosinger and Josh Goforth will perform at the Old Fort School Auditorium with seating on a first come, first served basis. Event hours: 7–9 p.m.
August 14
2nd Saturday Program: Farm Day with plans for participants with produce, natural products such as jam, soap as well as farm animals and equipment demonstrations. Plans are incomplete and more activities will be added up to the event date.
Each Sunday
Informal Jam on the Porch: Bring an instrument or just bring an ear. Event hours: 2–5 p.m.
All events are free admission. The museum offers museum tours, on-site picnicking, tourist information, and a regional history video. Please contact the museum at 828-668-9259 or mgm@ncdcr.govfor additional information.
Parking will be available at the museum and school as needed. From I-40, take exit 73, North 4 blocks to Water Street to the museum or 3 blocks to East Mitchell to the school.
Mountain Gateway Museum hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 2–5 p.m., and Monday Noon–5 p.m.
