The North Carolina Museum of History, located in downtown Raleigh, provides internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students looking for experience in museums.

Summer 2012 Internship Projects

Special Events Assistant

Project description: The selected intern will be introduced to the area of special event coordination in the museum. The intern will develop and use skills in customer relations, leadership, communication, and technical writing.

The intern will assist with the day-to-day operation of the Special Events Office including maintaining the calendar of events, meeting with current and prospective clients, and managing budget spreadsheets.

Work Schedule: The intern must be able to volunteer a total of 100-150 hours during the course of the internship. Weekly schedule is negotiable; however, the intern should be able to work at least 4 hours shifts. Some after hours and weekend work may be required.

Wage: This is a volunteer internship opportunity.

Qualifications: Candidates from all backgrounds with a demonstrated interest in museum work and event management are encouraged to apply. Computer skills are essential. Accuracy and strong attention to detail are crucial.
