Film Screening: Kiffin Rockwell, North Carolina's first hero of the Great War

Thursday, July 13, at 2 p.m.

Following his second injury in the trenches of “the war to end all wars” in Europe, North Carolinian Kiffin Rockwell gained admittance into the newly formed Lafayette Escadrille, where he gained fame as one of the earliest combat aviators—until his death on this date in 1916.

As an added bonus to the film, a never-before-seen epilogue tells the story of Paul Rockwell (Kiffin's brother) after Kiffin's death concentrating on the Lafayette Escadrille, Paul's role in preserving its memory -- including the creation of the LE Memorial -- and Paul's return to Europe in World War II.
