On March 17, a massive 5-alarm fire took place in downtown Raleigh at an under-construction apartment building, the Metropolitan. Fortunately, first responders immediately responded to the call, dousing nearby apartment buildings to prevent the fire from spreading. Thanks to the bravery of those men and women, there were zero life-threatening injuries.
Come honor the brave men and women who made such a difference and continue to everyday.
First Responders and their families will receive a 15% discount at the Museum Shop and a 10% discount at Pharaoh's. (Pharaoh's is closed on Sunday.) In addition, visitors will be able to write a personal "thank you" note to the first responders on a board located in the lobby.
The Museum of History, Museum of Natural Sciences and Museum of Art are partnering together on this effort. Each museum will have a separate day to honor the first responders at their respective museums.
- Museum of History will hold the event May 20-21.
- Museum of Art will hold the event May 26.
- Museum of Natural Sciences will hold the event June 10.

The Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education will be performing Making a Way Out of No Way: Enslaved Entrepreneurs in North Carolina in the 1800s, a play centering around three African Americans living in North Carolina, all of whom were slaves when they accomplished remarkable achievements despite their situations. The play will begin at 1 p.m.
