Artifacts

The Civil War collection is the largest of the different military collections in the North Carolina Museum of History. Many of the artifacts were donated by the veterans themselves or by their families in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Over 300 artifacts were included in the exhibit North Carolina and the Civil War. Many needed extensive conservation before they could be displayed. Below is a sampling of artifacts from the exhibit.
