Pincushion

Fanny Waddell of Nash County used this pincushion while sewing during the Civil War. The tomato shaped pincushion is made from material brought through the blockade from England and is printed with the pattern of the Confederate second national flag which was adopted in May 2, 1863. The Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond has a woman's garment in their collection made from the identical material.
