Tar Heel Junior Historian Annual Convention 2007

Chapter of the Year

The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association Adviser Handbook states, “Chapters that renew their membership in the association every year make up the backbone of THJHA, and without them the association would be almost nonexistent.” This year’s Chapter of the Year award goes to a club that has been dedicated to community history and North Carolina history since the very day it was established. Already honored as Rookie Chapter of the Year, this club has recruited twenty new members this year! Club members visited classrooms in Surry County and shared information about their club. They distributed brochures, presented a video, and displayed a pictorial triptych. The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association would like to thank this club for doing a great job getting the word out about THJHA! The 2007 Chapter of the Year is Jesse Franklin Pioneers, Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, Mount Airy, Annette Ayers, adviser.
