Youth Preservation Award

The 2008 Youth Preservation Award goes to the Trailblazers, Christian Homeschool Association of Rocky Mount, Elm City, Melody Godwin, adviser for their entry, “The Move: Preserving a Civil War Graveyard.” The club worked for three consecutive days to uncover graves in a local cemetery that was being threatened by construction, and move the graves to an existing graveyard. The Trailblazers have continued to return to the new burial ground to rake leaves and maintain the gravestones.
