Family Days at the North Carolina Museum of History

Family Day: North Carolina’s Coast: Working the Waters
Saturday, June 7
10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Celebrate North Carolina’s rich coastal heritage and culture! Singer and storyteller Connie Mason, North Carolina Sea Grant, and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum will join many other presenters.
  • Hear fish tales and sea songs.
  • See and talk with decoy carvers, crab pot makers, and other craftspeople.
  • Learn about lighthouses and make one of your own.
  • Sample seafood and traditional dishes.
  • Make a fish print, repair a fishnet, and try other fishy crafts.
  • Talk to fishermen and fisherwomen.
  • Learn about state historic sites and museums on the coast.
  • Win a prize in a scavenger hunt.
