Ages 14–18

In 1971, when she was 16 years old, Debra Austin became the first African American female dancer in the New York City Ballet. Join us this month for a close look at a pair of Austin’s ballet slippers from the museum collection and learn more about her barrier-breaking career.

This virtual program is designed to explore objects in the museum collection. It is for individual attendees.
