Activate History: Rivercane + Bloodroot + Walnut = A Cherokee Basket

Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1–1:45 p.m. via Demio

Register here! This is an online program.

In this month’s session, we’ll look at a double-weave basket made by Rowena Bradley, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians who lived from 1922 to 2003. During her lifetime, she created thousands of baskets, often using naturally dyed rivercane. Join today’s program for teens and find out, who taught her how to weave? How was the rivercane dyed? Do people still dye and weave like this today?

Ages 14–18

Note that Activate History will not be presented in December, but will return on Wednesday, January 27.
