Ancient and Modern World Lecture Series: Future of the Middle East

Thursday, January 19, 7 p.m.

Akram Khater, North Carolina State University

Khater, author and editor on topics relating to the Middle East, will argue that—despite a daily diet of violence and destruction—the foundations of peace in the Middle East are present amidst the rubble. His talk will explore the structural problems that have resulted in the region’s current tragic moment and examine the dynamics—demography, education, globalization—that will give form to its future peace. A Q&A session follows the presentation.
