Speaker: Michael P. Zatarga, Author, The Battle of Roanoke Island: Burnside and the Fight for North Carolina

During the first winter of America’s Civil War, Confederate forces were well in control of the fight. Then, Union general Ambrose Burnside marked the beaches of little Roanoke Island on the Outer Banks for an amphibious assault. His victory shifted control of Southern waters. A book signing will follow the presentation.
