Sowing the Seeds of Victory

Saturday, May 5, 1–3 p.m.

The first garden event of the year! During World War I, a “war garden movement” started in the US to encourage people on the home front to help the war effort. As a result, 3 million new garden plots were planted in 1917 by American citizens. Find out more about these early Victory gardens, see what’s going into the museum garden this season, and make your own starter garden kit to take home.
