Annual Convention 2017
The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association held its 2017 Annual Convention on April 28 at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh.
In a morning ceremony, Jessica Pratt, THJHA program coordinator, welcomed attendees and made announcements. Members from the Raleigh club We ARGH! led attendees in singing North Carolina’s state song, “The Old North State.” The Seed History Seekers from Garner Area Homeschoolers were the winner in the THJHA Club T-Shirt Contest. This year’s attendance numbered more than 350 junior historians, advisers, and family members.
In 2017 Annual Convention workshops, students explored the topics of Let’s Celebrate! and World War I.
The day also included a delicious lunch served by Gardner’s Barbecue of Rocky Mount. Participants who had reserved tickets enjoyed barbecue sandwiches, coleslaw, chips, beverages, and cookies.
In the afternoon, everyone convened in the museum’s auditorium to learn who would win the top prizes in the 2017 THJHA Annual Contests.
