Financial assistance is available to those who otherwise could not participate in a Museum program. A scholarship committee will consider each request individually. Registration begins March 1, 2018. Scholarship requests are considered and awarded on a first-come, first-served, rolling basis. Each scholarship awarded covers $75 towards camp registration costs. The remaining $25 and any associated fees such as lunchtime care would be the responsibility of the parent/guardian. Anyone interested in nominating a child for a needs-based scholarship to one of the museum’s summer camps should submit the following information:
- A completed registration form for the camp they are interested in attending.
- Two letters of request/support for nominating a child for a scholarship. One letter must be by a parent. One letter must be by a non-relative—a teacher, friend, clergy member or other adult. The letters should outline why financial assistance is necessary and why the child would like to attend and would benefit from the camp.Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide an additional letter by nominated children in grades 3rd-8th grade explaining why they are interested in attending a camp at the North Carolina Museum of History.
- Any other supporting materials the nominating adult thinks the scholarship committee should review. No financial records are required for consideration.
Materials may either be uploaded/attached to the registration form or sent to to:
