Classic diner food, mouthwatering cakes and desserts, and an atmosphere that will make you want to stay all day are just a few of the reasons that we are excited to welcome Premier Cakes Diner to the North Carolina Museum of History.
Husband-and-wife duo Bobby and Tracy Outlaw first opened their Falls of Neuse location, Premier Cakes, in 2011, focusing mainly on homemade desserts. But the two always knew they had more to offer.
In 1986 the couple moved to North Carolina from Washington, DC. Bobby said that is when their interest in cooking really started to take shape.
“Living in DC, we could get any kind of cuisine we wanted at any time of the day,” Bobby said. “And when we got here, it was so hard to find.”
Bobby recalled driving around for five hours shortly after moving to North Carolina, looking for garam masala to make an Indian dish. When he finally concluded he wouldn’t be able to find it, he decided to make his own using a certain blend of spices.
“We started cooking for ourselves more often and learned to cook different recipes and different cuisines, and that’s how we got here,” Bobby said.
Having built a loyal following at their Premier Cakes bakery over the past 12 years, Bobby and Tracy are ready to take it to the next level with Premier Cakes Diner at the North Carolina Museum of History.
All breakfast and lunch items are cooked to order at any time of the day. And of course, many of their signature dessert items for purchase that line the bakery display daily.
Their venture into the diner business is exciting for the Outlaws, but the most thrilling part is getting to meet new people from all over the world.
“What excites me the most about being at the North Carolina Museum of History is, I guess, the opportunity to see so much foot traffic and so many people who can experience what we have to offer on a daily basis,” Bobby said. “Not just locally but from all around the state and throughout the country. We just had some customers here who were international customers, so that opens us up to so many more people of different nationalities and everything that we didn’t have before.”
So whether you’re local, from out of state, or from out of the country, come see everything that Premier Cakes Diner at the North Carolina Museum of History has to offer.
