The North Carolina Museum of History is excited to close out the summer with a full lineup of programs in August and September! The museum is a part of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
This August, bring your latest craft project to a special screening of “Night at the Museum” and welcome back History at High Noon, the museum’s virtual lunchtime lecture series. Then, join us in September for an evening celebrating Indigenous fashion and tradition and a behind-the-scenes look at the Wolfpack Brewing Lab at NC State University.

Have you wondered what happens at the North Carolina Museum of History at night? Catch a glimpse of the magic at the Garner Performing Arts Center for a viewing of “Night at the Museum.” Be sure to check out pieces of the museum’s collection in the lobby and ask museum security guards what really happens at night! Bring your lap-friendly craft projects, your family, and a sense of wonder for an evening of fun. - History at High Noon: Operation Bumblebee
Wednesday, Aug. 26, noon–1 p.m.
History at High Noon is back! Join the museum as we examine the incredible story of Operation Bumblebee, a top-secret U.S. Navy project conducted off the coast of North Carolina. Learn how experiments in the late 1940s helped develop new propulsion technology that revolutionized naval defense and contributed to advances in supersonic flight. - Stitched in Tradition
Thursday, Sept. 17, 6:30–8 p.m.
Experience an evening of Indigenous fashion, creativity, and storytelling at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Stitched in Tradition features designers from across North Carolina whose work blends cultural knowledge, contemporary design, and personal expression. Through traditional regalia and runway collections, this showcase celebrates Indigenous identity, visibility, and the power of fashion as living tradition. - History on Tap: The Wolfpack Brewing Lab
